Game rules and bets in baccarat
The rules of baccarat are very simple, because in each hand there are only 3 possible outcomes.
The goal of the game is to predict which hand will score the most points and win: the banker or the player. You can also bet on a draw when both the player and the banker have the same number of points. This is a rarer situation than a victory for one of the parties.
10 and picture cards have a denomination of 0, aces – 1, and the denomination of the remaining cards corresponds to their value.
You can bet on a draw and a player’s or banker’s victory, but not on all 3 outcomes at once.
After placing bets, the player and the banker are dealt 2 cards each. After that, the cards are revealed and the points are calculated. Depending on the number of points, the player and / or the banker can take one additional card. Each hand can contain a maximum of 3 cards, and the rules for drawing the third card are the same in all casinos where baccarat is available.
After the hand is finished, the winner is announced and the losing bets are collected. Winning bets are paid according to the odds shown in the table below.
|Banker||1 to 1*|
|Player||1 to 1|
|Draw||8 to 1|
- minus 5% commission (for example, a 100 rate is paid at a rate of 95).
In case of a tie, the bets on the banker and the player are returned (as during the “push” in blackjack, when no one makes a profit, but also does not lose).
If the player’s hand wins, bets are paid on a “even money” basis.
If the banker’s hand wins, the bets are paid on a “equal money” basis, but a 5% commission is deducted.
Rules for dealing third cards
If the banker or player has received 8 or 9 points on the first two cards, then such a hand is called “natural”. In this case, the distribution ends and the winner is announced. If the player’s hand scores 0-5 points, then the third card is taken. The banker receives a third card in accordance with the table below. These rules apply even if the banker can win by leaving 2 cards.
|Banker points on two cards||The banker draws a card if the player’s third card …|
|3||Any (except 8)|
|four||2 – 7|
|five||4 – 7|
|6||6 – 7|
|7||Doesn’t take a card|
|8||Doesn’t take a card|
|9||Doesn’t take a card|
If the player has 6 or 7 points (and according to the rules he does not take a card), then the banker takes a card if he has 0-5 points.
The theoretical return to player (RTP) in baccarat is:
Banker bet: 98.94%
Bet on player: 98.76%
Draw Bet: 85.64%
